Reasons to Choose Hardwood Floors
Hardwood flooring is one of the oldest types of flooring in the world. It’s considered a timeless classic, and all other types of flooring are compared to it.
Hardwood floors are easy to clean. If your household includes pets, or if you have dust or pollen allergies, the particles are easy to remove with a soft microfiber dusting cloth. The wood doesn’t retain odors, and any stains that penetrate the sealant can be sanded out of the wood and removed. Hardwood doesn’t off-gas volatile organic compounds, so your home will have better indoor air quality.
Although hardwood flooring costs more upfront, you won’t have to replace it every 10 years like carpet, and it can be sanded and refinished as desired. Hardwood floors add instant warmth and increase the value of your home.
Caring for Your New Hardwood Flooring
If cared for properly, your hardwood floors should look great for years to come. Here are a few tips: Avoid wearing steel-toed boots or high-heel shoes on hardwood floors. If you have pets, keep their nails trimmed to avoid dinging or scratching the flooring. Remove dust from your hardwood floor every day. The best way to do this is with a dry microfiber cloth. Once per week, use a liquid cleaner specially made for use on wood floors. Polish the floors every three months. A urethane-based polish is the best option. About every 10 to 20 years, hardwood floors may need to be refinished.

We have many types of wood to choose from, including the following:

Wood Grades
We have several NOFMA grades of wood to choose from, including the following:
Contains all the variations and coloration produced by the contrasting differences by heartwood and sapwood. Also included are minimal character marks, such as small knots, mineral streaks, as well as slightly open characters. The combinations creates a floor where the light sapwood and dark heartwood are combined with small characters and other small color interruptions.
A flooring product characterized by prominent color variation that also contains prominent characters such as knots, worm holes, along with machining and drying variations. #1 Common is a tasteful floor where more prominent variations are expected.
Contains sound natural and manufacturing variations including knot holes, open worm holes, and other open character along with prominent color variations. #2 Common is most desirable for applications where numerous notable character marks and prominent colors is desired.
This grade has a higher acceptance tolerance; short pieces, sander burns, splits, large knots, pieces missing a tongue on one end, any and all of these can be in a bundle of utility grade wood. That being said, it is still a solid oak at half the cost of most solid wood flooring. You will need to figure 20% waste and you should get a surprisingly beautiful and serviceable floor.
